Frisbee Games to Play with Two or More PeopleGame Rules for Various Disc Throwing Activities for Kids and Adults
Frisbee isn't just for throwing around the backyard anymore! Hundreds of variations of games exits that are played with frisbee discs and some require only two people.
Originally dubbed the "Pluto Platter" in 1948, Walter Frederick Morrison invented the plastic throwing disc that was later named "Frisbee®" which became a registered trademark of the Wham-O Toy Company. The word Frisbee has come to be generally accepted as a generic description of a plastic throwing disc. It was styled as an improvement over the tin Frisbie Pie dishes that were part of a game invented by Yale students in the 1920's. These pie tins, from the Frisbie bakery were very popular but were very loud when they landed and after some use, their edges would break off and get sharp. Mr. Morrison decided to use plastic for his discs and form them to be even more aerodynamic than their predecessors. Since their invention, the Frisbee has been through many changes, and a large variety of games has been invented around this inexpensive backyard toy. Many of these games are played with eight or more people, but many can be played for just a couple. Easy to carry, and no complicated building required, Frisbees are an easy addition to a picnic, barbeque or afternoon walk. Frisbee Games for Two People or moreDisc Golf: Disc Golf has become a popular game and many places have disc golf courses, but to play the only thing that is needed is a frisbee and a target. A bucket, ring of stones, circle drawn in the sand or just about way to mark a target is acceptable. Each player takes turns trying to throw his frisbee into the target area. If he misses, he must throw his next turn from the landing position of his first. The number of tries it takes to get it in is the player's score. The one with the lowest score after a set number of rounds is the winner. This can be played with one target or with several. Discathon: A course is laid out around trees or other obstacles using arrows to point the way around the obstacles. Each person throws their frisbees trying to make his frisbee follow the course. The players can walk anywhere, but if their frisbee goes off course, they must go back to their last position and try it again. frisbees must fly along the course path, but there are no limit to the number of throws that can be used to complete this. The first person's frisbee to cross the finish line wins. Sidewalk Seven: This is frisbee game that is played on a sidewalk, usually on the way to somewhere. It is best with two to three players. Each player throws a frisbee, trying to land it inside a sidewalk square and as far away as possible. For each square away from the player that it is thrown, the player earns one point. The frisbee is considered in the square if it is more than 50% in. If it lands off of the sidewalk, the player earns zero points for that round and the next round begins. If the frisbee lands seven squares away, the player earns zero points for that round. * The Frisbee® name is a registered trademark of Wham-O Toy Company.
